The Community Drug Checking Service, in partnership with Interior Health Authority and the BC Centre for Substance Use, allows free testing of substance samples that is both fast and anonymous. The service makes use of the Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), to analyze and identify components within substances to increase awareness for individuals who use. Samples are taken at the ASK Wellness Society 433 Tranquille location and continue to lead to immediate drug alerts sent out by IHA. These alerts are designed to reduce the immediate risk to individuals using substances and mitigate the continued rise of overdose rates across the Province.
