Outreach Support Services

Merritt Streets

The ASK Wellness Society provides a range of outreach support services designed to assist members of the Merritt community who are facing homelessness, mental health, substance misuse, or a combination of these factors. This is achieved by providing a range of services with a two-pronged approach of Harm Reduction and Education. The Society also provides Third Party supports for clients who need to access government services but are unable to attend at Ministry of Social Development sites

Street Outreach

Merritt’s Street Outreach program serves as a first point of contact for those facing homelessness, or anybody who is affected by substance use and does not know where to turn.

Drug
Checking

The Community Drug Checking Service, in partnership with Interior Health Authority and the BC Centre for Substance Use, allows free testing of substance samples that is both fast and anonymous. The service makes use of the Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), to analyze and identify components within substances to increase awareness for individuals who use.
