Participate with ASK Wellness

The ASK Wellness Society is proud to be a part of the Kamloops, Merritt, and Penticton communities and takes an active role in being visible at events that support our Mission. From the AIDS Walk for Life to LGBTQ+ events to Downtown Market Days, we take pride in participating and playing a role in the awareness of marginalized people and what we can do as a community to support them.

To take part in these type of events we always need volunteers from all walks of life. Our volunteers are people who have the desire to make a difference in their community – and in their own life – by giving of their time and expertise. At the ASK Wellness Society we provide an opportunity for people to use their talents and skills to help people in need throughout our community.
VOLUNTEER
ASK Wellness Society relies on the support of the community to provide the level of service it does for their clients. That is why we always welcome individuals or groups who want to make a difference in the world around them by sharing some of their time to volunteer with us. At ASK, we have something for everyone whether they want to work directly with some the marginalized people in our city or provide the administrative support that helps our agency function. If you have any questions please contact a member of the Human Resources Department at humanresources@askwelness.ca.
ASK Wellness Society Volunteer Application (PDF)
Our Volunteer Process:

1. When the ASK Wellness Society has a volunteer opportunity available the Human Resources department will connect with Volunteer Kamloops and fill out the applicable forms and required information for the volunteer opportunity available within the organization. Volunteer Kamloops then posts the volunteer opportunity.

2. Community individuals go into Volunteer Kamloops and complete an interview to see what they are interested in. If they fit the description of the ASK Wellness Society needs and requirements for the position and if the individual is interested in volunteering with the ASK Wellness Society then they are directed to the RCMP to complete their Criminal Record Check.

3. Once you have received your criminal record check, then you come into the ASK Wellness Society and drop off your paperwork and say that you have been referred by Volunteer Kamloops.

4. The application package is then directed to the program coordinator and if there is an open availability, they will call you to bring in for an informal interview.

We are thankful for each of our volunteers and value the time and effort they give us on a daily basis.

JOIN OUR BOARD
Thank you for considering joining the ASK Wellness Society’s Board of Directors

Board of Directors Recruitment Process
On occasion, the Board of Directors (the Board) of the ASK Wellness Society will seek out or receive applications from individuals in the community who wish to join our Board. As a rule, Directors must be members of the Association in order to serve. As applications are received they are vetted by the Executive Director and the Chair for fit, skill and eligibility.

If there is no open seat on the Board, applicants may be asked to start serving as a volunteer in another areas, such as event planning and execution, community engagement etc. If a seat is available, the Chair will bring forward the candidate(s) to the Board for consideration. The Board Members will review the application form and decide if the applicant is accepted. The Board may appoint a Director to an open Director’s chair between Annual General Meetings.

If more than one Director has applied and a single seat is available, the Board will have the discretion to choose who will fill the seat and will ask the alternate candidate to stand at the next Annual General Meeting. If accepted, the Board Member will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check and sign Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies.

The applicant will meet with the Board Chair and Executive Director for an organizational orientation. At the end of this orientation, the Director will receive a copy of the current Board Manual. Please feel free to review the following documents to find out more information or to apply:
If you have any questions regarding this package, please contact the Board Chair, Stan Fike at board@askwellness.ca. Otherwise you can apply for the Board of Directors by clicking the button below.
