WHAT LED YOU TO BE INTERESTED IN WORKING FOR ASK WELLNESS SOCIETY?
Prior to working at ASK, I worked with High-Risk Youth in Kamloops for three years. It was very challenging work with very few successes. I found that young people face significant challenges after aging out of the system, and it seems like there’s a gap in supports during that transition. When I moved over to ASK Wellness, working with adults, I found the adults were very grateful for any support or kindness you give, which made my work more satisfying and enjoyable, as I want to help everyone as much as I am able.
ㅤ
WHAT MAKES YOU MOST PROUD ABOUT YOUR ROLE WITHIN ASK?
The ASK Wellness mandate really resonates with me and who I am. I enjoy being a part of people's growth and positive shifts in behaviours, attitudes, and character when they receive positive support, stable housing, compassion, and understanding.
ㅤ
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME?
I love anything extreme that gets my adrenaline going - driving anything with a motor (FAST), scuba diving, sailing, anything outdoors with my dog in the forest or in water, jumping off mountains, white water rafting… so much more.
ㅤ
WHAT IS ONE THING YOU JUST CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT?
My kids, my dog, and my family.
CAN YOU TELL US A FUN FACT OR SOMETHING FEW PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT YOU?
I am a Reiki Master and teacher. After my youngest child went to university, I took five years off work and travelled to 13 third-world countries, giving back by helping people and teaching basic medicine and English. I jumped off one of the Himalayan mountains while living in Nepal, hang gliding. In 2024, I went shark diving in Hawaii.
Theresa, your passion, dedication, and adventurous spirit inspire us all. Whether it’s providing life-changing support through the Surge Program, hang gliding off the Himalayas, or diving with sharks, you bring the same fearless energy and compassion to everything you do. We’re incredibly grateful for the impact you make at ASK Wellness Society!
